We’re glad to share with you the interview with the winner of the s1homes month’s #FreeRent, Victoria Burtt.
Victoria and her husband were living in Kent, but are moving all the way to Scotland, something that will be easier thanks to the £750 prize towards their first rental payment.

What made you decide to move to Scotland?
My husband and I are moving to Scotland in order to pursue a long awaiting dream to be able to reside in Scotland and call it our home. We fell in love with Elgin and Lossiemouth on a trip there (back in 2006). We had travelled from London to Lossiemouth in my now husbands first car as a treat for my 19th birthday to go Whale and Dolphin watching. Since then we have travelled to Scotland every year on a holiday of some kind. We love it. Every time we set off we feel like we are going home. Last Year we back packed across the Highlands and Islands and met some fantastic people and immersed ourselves in the whole experience. This year we made it our pledge that we should pursue our dream as ‘life is too short for regrets’. We are both teachers, I have been teaching for 5 years and my husband has just qualified so it fits perfectly with a change in lifestyle.

Where in Scotland have you decided to call home?
We searched across few areas, but finally we’re moving to the Morayshire area of Scotland.

How did you find out about this competition?
Ever since we talked about moving to Scotland officially (February 2016), I have been searching the internet for companies who deal with rentals in Scotland specifically. I was also looking for a job at the time so I registered with s1jobs.com. I applied for a few jobs through s1jobs.com and noticed that there was also a rental sister site. We started searching for rental houses at s1homes.com site which was so detailed and helpful. Having gone on the website a few times on my phone the competition popped up that there was an app I could download and if I had shown interest in any property I would be entered into a competition to win £750 #FreeRent. Perfect, I thought, I could have notifications set up ready rather than surfing the internet when I had a moment and if I win 1 months’ rent it will help with moving.

How did you feel when you found out you were our winner?
I was shocked. I know it sounds cliché but I don’t win competitions like this. I have won some sporting and music competitions in my life but that’s through hard work and determination. I always believe you have to be in it to win it so the fact that I have won through pursuing and embarking on a dream just makes it even sweeter and confirms we are doing the right thing. I was/am elated and did shed a few tears of happiness. Thank you.

How this prize is going to help you?
This #FreeRent is going to help a huge amount. Due to the fact that we made a decision last year for my husband to go back to university, we have had to cut back on a lot of things to ensure we can afford our move. This free month will give us some breathing space and allow us to enjoy moving; lifting some of the weight of money worries to live our dream. Thank you so much.
